Matt and Sarah’s wedding day felt so classic, timeless, and just really intentional from start to finish. They got ready at Nichols Heir in Sevierville, had their Catholic ceremony at the Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in Knoxville, and then came back to Nichols Heir for their reception in the Grand Hall.
I love when couples choose locations that complement each other like this; Sacred Heart Cathedral brings such a traditional, meaningful feel to the ceremony, and Nichols Heir gives you that bright, elegant reception space surrounded by East Tennessee scenery.
One of my favorite parts of this wedding is that I had already photographed Matt and Sarah’s proposal the fall before. Getting to work with couples more than once is always so special because we already know each other going into the wedding day, which makes everything feel more relaxed and natural.

Matt and Sarah both got ready at Nichols Heir before heading to Knoxville for their ceremony. Sarah and her bridesmaids used the bridal suite, and Matt and his groomsmen got ready in the groom’s suite near the Grand Hall.
Both spaces are really spacious, which makes such a difference on a wedding morning. There’s room for everyone to spread out, get ready without feeling rushed, and actually enjoy those last moments before the ceremony. Nichols Heir also has beautiful natural light throughout the venue, which makes the getting ready photos feel clean, bright, and timeless.

Their ceremony took place at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Knoxville, which is such a beautiful option if you’re planning a Catholic wedding in the area.
They chose not to do a first look, so the first time Matt saw Sarah was when she walked down the aisle. For a cathedral ceremony like this, that moment just felt right. The space itself adds so much to the experience with its architecture, long aisle, and overall sense of reverence.
After the ceremony, we stepped outside for a few portraits in front of the cathedral before heading back to Nichols Heir.

After the ceremony, everyone headed back to Nichols Heir for the reception in the Grand Hall. It was such a perfect fit for their day—elegant and polished, but still warm and welcoming for their guests.
From a photography perspective, the Grand Hall is honestly such a dream. The natural light keeps everything feeling bright and clean, and it photographs beautifully all day long. If you’re looking for a Sevierville wedding venue that feels elevated and classic without leaning too rustic, Nichols Heir is such a good option.

Matt and Sarah’s wedding is such a good example of how well a Sacred Heart Cathedral ceremony and Nichols Heir reception can work together. Their day felt meaningful, relaxed, and full of so much joy.

You can, but you do not have to. Matt and Sarah did not do a first look, and their day still flowed beautifully. A first look can give you more flexibility, especially with travel between locations.
