I discovered The Abbott Mansion the way many people discover anything these days: through TikTok.
One of their early videos about the renovation process popped up on my For You page, and I remember immediately thinking, This is different. As a wedding photographer based in Atlanta, most of what I see in North Georgia is barns, farms, and rustic mountain venues. While those spaces are beautiful, this felt like something entirely new.
Abbott Mansion was elegant, classic, and estate-style. It was clean, timeless, and only about an hour away from me.
I knew right away I wanted to see it in person.
A Venue That Feels Different in North Georgia
One of the things I love most about Abbott Mansion is how much it stands apart from what is typical in this area.
While North Georgia is known for rustic barns and mountain lodges, Abbott Mansion offers something more refined and estate-inspired. It is ideal for couples who want:

- A more editorial, magazine-style look
- A timeless setting that will not feel dated
- A luxury experience without leaving Georgia

Visiting Abbott Mansion Before It Opened
After seeing that first video, I went straight to their website and reached out. I wanted to tour the space, learn more about their vision, and photograph the property before it officially opened.
One of the owners, Carey, got back in touch with me, and we set up a time for me to visit. During that tour, I had the chance to walk through the property, talk with her and her husband, Mike, and hear more about what they were creating.
What stood out to me immediately was how passionate they were about the venue. They cared deeply about every detail and were genuinely interested in hearing my perspective as a photographer. They wanted to know what makes a space work well for weddings, what helps photos feel timeless, and what matters most on a wedding day. That openness and collaboration made the experience even more special!
Photographing A Styled Shoot at Abbott Mansion
Not long after that visit, I set up a styled shoot at Abbott Mansion. At the time, the venue was still under construction, and very few people had seen it in person or any photos of it online.
That shoot allowed me to fully explore the space, understand how it photographs, and showcase what weddings there could look like. Many of those images are now featured on their website and in their promotional materials, which has been incredibly meaningful to be part of!
Being able to photograph Abbott Mansion so early on has given me a unique level of familiarity with the property, something I truly value when working with my couples. It’s so nice to have someone who already knows all the good spots and how to photograph the space well.
Why Abbott Mansion Photographs So Beautifully
From a photographer’s perspective, this venue is a dream.

Every part of the venue feels well considered, which makes it easy to create romantic, editorial-style images throughout the entire day. Whether we are doing bridal portraits, couple photos, or family formals, there are so many strong locations to work with.
Working With the Abbott Mansion Team
During my time there, I also worked closely with Lane, Carey and Mike’s son, who has created the video content for the venue. He is an incredibly talented videographer and shares the same passion for Abbott Mansion that the owners do.
